With US -Mexico relations and border/immigration issues at a crisis point, there non-the-less exists the intertwining of huge financial interests on both sides of the border – exemplified in Mexico’s enormous fan interest in the National Football League (NFL). The multi-billion dollar corporate entity, the NFL, is embroiled in it’s own existential crisis due to increasing demands to address concussion and brain injury lawsuits brought by former players as well as accusations of scientific cover-ups relating to the medical consequences of concussions, is seeking to expand television, radio and live-attendance markets outside the US with Mexico as a prime and willing market…a fascinating economic and political microcosm of our joint border economy in the wake of the current administration’s complex and recently contentious relationship with Mexico.
