Special Presentation

Doc reads excerpts from Jack London’s Call of the Wild (1905) and the short story The Mexican (1911) and talks about Jack London’s classic pre-Orwellian Iron Heel (1908) for Banned Books Read-out event in the lobby of  the Humboldt State University Library,  Tuesday, September 23 at 1:00 PM.

Jack  London’s works were banned and burned in Nazi, Germany in 1933  (as well as in Italy and Yugoslavia in 1929) – for London’s outspoken socialist beliefs.  Other major banned writers included Ernest Hemingway, Sinclair Lewis, Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud.
